he was always smiling. He loved your mum so much and every time he could do something to help her -he would. He was a praying man. He trusted in Jesus. He has impacted my life and as you say 1000s of others.

I first met Paul, Penny and three beautiful children when they came to serve in YWAM Melbourne somewhere around 1991? Paul was a Pastor / Plumber and me being a carpenter we certainly did a few projects together on that Surrey Hills Base. Getting to know Penny as well, what a lovely family. A great example to me as a single guy. I was even privileged to baby sit the children while Paul and Penny had a date night. Paul was just a year younger than me. My wife and I caught up with the wider family in Thailand and more lovely children. What more can I say — a love filled serving couple.
Almost every time I met your dad, I always came away with a nugget wisdom that I would commit to memory and want to write down. He was a deep well of wisdom with unique insight. My last conversation with him was Wednesday afternoon. We were in the CRICS parking lot, and he was talking about his big trip this summer in which he and your precious mom saw so many family and friends. He said that although he was tired, his heart was full. Personally, one of my favorite pictures of your dad was when my son Levi left my neck and stretched his hands out to your dad to be held by him. He never does that. But he did with your dad.
Living on the same property as them I got the joy of every morning him walking down to the chickens. Wld say hi to me and then say good morning to the chickens “ hi girls good morning. Let’s see what we got today”. Man I will miss him.
Paul was a familiar and welcoming voice among the people. Coming from Brazil, we felt so welcomed into the community at YWAM Chiang Rai and CRICS, and especially when Paul was around. Whether he was speaking Spanish, trying out some Portuguese, or wearing his Botafogo jersey–the Brazilian soccer team–I always felt a special connection with him. I remember telling him that his Botafogo shirt reminded me of my dad, who is a huge Botafogo fan.
Paul was always good for a 10-15 minute conversation–always happy, encouraging, kind, and genuinely interested in people. I still remember meeting him for the first time about five years ago. He spoke some Spanish and Portuguese, and during that conversation we discovered that Arnie would be my daughter’s classmate. From there, the fun, conversations, and laughter just began.
Paul was truly a great man of God.
I also remember Jonathan talking about Paul and being so deeply moved by the love and respect he expressed through his words about him. It spoke volumes about the kind of man Paul was and the impact he had on those who knew him closely.
I have special memories of him and Aunty Penny taking me to coffee and having a chat in one of the hardest times of my life. I remember him reading books to my girls and them giving him big cuddles… I remember his voice.
Not sure what the accent he had ended up being but his voice was WONDERFUL.
Something about it was so fun and full of life and so kind and loving. He was always smiling. He just OOZED out love for everyone no matter big or small, no matter who you were.
